Passionate Ambivalence

She has to find a way to win.

To save the king.  Because he's the king.  Because he's a good man.

To save the king, for her father.

To stop her father from trading his life for the king's.

To save herself and Soren from their father.  To save him from the thing he has become.

To save the princes.  The kingdom.  All of humanity from the cresting wave of war.

Again and again she reaches for the power of the time nexus. 

Again and again she tries and fails by the measure she set.  

Again and again and again.

She ages while they only restart.  She draws on more life energy.

And she learns.


There's no way to win by bracing for impact.

By shunting aside the river, the avalanche, the tragedy, the change.

There's only running toward what matters.  Building it stronger.  Loving it harder.

She courts the mage-prince. 

With her knowledge. With her smiles.

She stands with him beside the throne in a bright new day.

With him and with the elf-lass.  Once sworn enemies, now trusted and beloved.
