American Gods so far
Nov. 7th, 2011 08:52 pmI am not feeling their Odin. He is flat on too many sides. (A huuuuge part of this is the absence of Frigg, I think.) I suspect the same is true of many of the others, gods I am less familiar with.
Salim and the ifrit are my favorite bit so far. I feel they should have their own book. I put the book down for a while after that bit because it felt richer and sweeter and like it belonged in another story.
I have absolutely no doubt it would/will make an awesome miniseries.
The casting threads people have up are making me bonkers because STOP TRYING TO HAVE WHITE DUDES BE SHADOW, RAR. I already had Dwayne Johnson in my head reading it; I didn't realize Gaiman actually mentioned him, but he seems perfect so far, so I haven't really thought about alternates.
Tim Roth as Low-Key seems pretty awesome, too.
Laura could be tricky. For some reason I thought of Lisa Bonet. And then that made me think of Gina Torres. But I should revisit this sort of thing after I finish the book.e
Oooh, Donald Sutherland as Wednesday. Good idea, internet!
