On what planet is there that much platinum available, and it's strong enough to build crap like that out of? Also, why does it have to be platinum? Wouldn't any pure metal do the job?

Councilman Taarlok: Grand champion influence-bender, capable of channeling the power of favors like no one else.


Hmmm. Is spiritual development harder or easier when you're a teenager? I imagine the answer is, "It depends," and "Easier than what?" I think it's pretty cool that wartime kids who grow up young are followed up with these slightly older folks who still have to negotiate an identity and place in the world.

WTF is up with the Council? Whee, let's have a crackdown and make it clear Amon is onto something saying benders and non-benders are enemies.

Also also, what it up with everyone saying "We're at war?" Terrorism: Not the same.


Korra, it's snowing! When is it cold enough for you to put a coat on?

Fight in the council chamber! Somewhere a bunch of members of the parks commission or the historical society or something woke up screaming.

Gaaaaah! Why does no one observe the buddy system? I guess Korra has an excuse in this case, but it annoys me. Maybe she left a note?

I don't think Tenzin should be on this adventure. OTOH, keeping him around in the Council to counterbalance Tarrlok hasn't been working out...

Is there some reason why the authorities don't have chi blocker people? Cuz that seems like it would be helpful.

That whole Tarrlok storyline can't be over, can it? Damn, this timeline is compressed. Whyyyyy are there so few episodes? Whyyyyy?!?!

So I was reading about the theme of cultural hybridization in the work of Alejo Carpentier (yes, for fun) and it made me think about atomic orbitals, and then my thoughts on atomic orbitals kind of helped elucidate and expand my understanding.
