The soft animal of my body is kinda sick, and kinda depressed, and surrounded by sick, cranky children. Well, not right now, because I put them outside and now they are doing interesting things with leaves.

So instead of running errands or cleaning up or doing much of anything, I have been kinda poking around and doing some career soul-searching type stuff.

Two weeks back at a conference I talked to a recruiter dude and he wanted to know what I'd do if money were no object. In my field, he said, and the answer I'm coming to about that is probably going to mean a career change and a new adventure.

But if I don't have to stay in my field or use skills or knowledge I actually possess, then I want to produce awesome movie versions of awesome books I've been reading. Or possibly miniseries; those are better for the scope of epics, and I love me some epic fantasy entertainment.

For a first project, I quickly thought of either Nalo Hopkinson's Brown Girl in the Ring or Tobias Bucknell's Crystal Rain. Because awesome!

Then maybe we can move on to trilogies/series (yeah, I know Crystal Rain has sequels, but I haven't read them and they don't have the same characters or quite as much Steampunk: In Spaaaace!) and do Alaya Dawn Johnson's Spirit Binders and Maurice Broaddus's Knights of Breton Court.

I don't know how effectively one could adapt N.K. Jemisin's Inheritance Trilogy, but it does have the potential have some very striking visuals, so lets's do that too. With a huuuuuge budget. And 3-D too, why not.
